Nattak on #Reload online
26 April 2010As many of you guys out there already know. It is possible to play Guilty Gear Online. However you will have to put your time travelers boots on and go back a few years to the XX #Reload version of the game. #Reload and Isuka are the only GG games that were ported to pc, and some genious decided that it would be great to play with people online, and not just in the arcade, or wait for the casual play day. And the online patch for GG reload was developed.
Playing online has it’s up and down’s, and at first sight it’s mostly down’s:
- The most common speed to play at is by playing with four frames of delay(in order to cope with the distance), which means different execution timing. This setting can be changed if your opponent has a good connection.
- It’s an old version of the game, with old combos and a lot of bullshit.
- A.B.A and HOS are missing.
These things are enough to have players not even considering playing online at all, but there is something to gain as well.
- Different from just sitting in practice mode, it’s actually another human sitting on the 2player side of the screen, meaning that this is a unique opportunity to get match up experience, and match up experience is something you want to have in order to take the game to the next level. It’s a good thing, because you will meet almost every GG gamer profile online.
-A great playground to try out new mix-ups and gimmicks. This apply’s more to the character that’s hasn’t changed too much since #Reload or Slash.
I have been playing online for quite some time now, and i feel that this is what has made me a much better player in the long run. I used to live in Norway, where i got introduced to Slash by my fellow comrades. As time flew we were still only four people playing the game, and we didn’t get together to much to play casuals either. Playing against three different characters wasn’t enough, I wanted to learn more. When i found #Reload online, i discovered that it wasn’t that different from Slash and i had no thoughts of how bad it was at all. But i got online and learned the basics of defense, pressure, and how damn annoying the dustloops was. As i grew in skill as a players i learn’t to use #Reload online to my advantage, and it quickly became my playground for testing mixups, gimicks and setups. Later, after properly testing the new tactics, I would apply them to my AC game which is still something i do today. Being a student does not give you much time to maintain the skills in guilty gear, a lot of things can easily be forgotten, but this has been my way of maintaining it. Some people have asked me of how i cope with switching over to AC, and i would say: “It’s like shifting between gears while driving” It’s hard at first and it would usually take a match or 2 before you will get used to AC timing again, but when you have done it a couple of times, it’s not a problem.
If you don’t live near an arcade or play regularly with friends, this is a good solution in order to take it to the next level.
